Primary Passages: Nehemiah 3:28-32

Launching Discussion: Tell the group about a time you did something that you felt was truly great in life. How did being a part of something great make you feel?

Sermon Questions:

1. Do you think most people desire to do great things in life? Please explain why, or why not?

  • Do you believe God wants to do great things through your life?

2. Have you ever thought about the fact that God is sovereignly working his purposes out in the world through the lives of His people?

  • What does this say about how God sees our world and how does knowing this affect what you do with your everyday life?

3. In the sermon, Pastor Anthony explained how God loves to use three types of people to move his Kingdom forward:

1. God loves to use diversity in people.

2. God loves to use people who live sacrificially for others.

3. God loves to use people who are unified in their love for Him, each other, and the work God has set them apart to do.

Please answer the following questions in light of those truths:

a. How do you think God wants to use your life for His Kingdom based on the unique and diverse way he created you?

b. What are some of the difficulties we face when trying to love and serve others in the same way Jesus loved and served you?

c. Have you ever been through a time where you served someone sacrificially and you never received a ROI (Return on your Investment)? What are the dangers associated with always expecting that when you serve someone you’ll be able to observe tangible fruit or progress in their life?

d. God’s desire for unity amongst his people is talked about all throughout the Bible. What are some ways you can personally help to maintain this unity at our church especially when it comes to a unity in the work God has set us apart to do?
