PARTICIPANT'S GUIDE FOR COMMUNITY GROUP GATHERINGS
Sermon: Defining Vision - The Foundation of our Future, March 1st, 2015
Series: Nehemiah: Building for the Future
Speaker: Pastor Anthony Orzo

Take your next steps with Restoration:

In Community with us: Do you want to meet some new people and get connected to our church community? Every second Sunday of the month, directly after our worship gathering, Restoration gets together for our monthly Meet and Greet Social at the Texas Roadhouse in the Port Orange Pavilion. Twenty percent of everything we spend at the Roadhouse comes back to us to help with our Sweetwater Elementary School Partnership. We hope you can join us this Sunday! For questions, contact us here.

At our Sunday Gatherings: Are you interested in taking your next steps for Jesus with us at Restoration? Last month we launched a brand new series to help you do just that. As we approach our 5-year anniversary, we'll look to the book of Nehemiah to help us pray, plan and labor towards what the next 5 years hold for us. Play your part in our future this Sunday at 10am.

Primary Passages: Nehemiah 1:1-11

Launching Discussion: Since we’ve talked about Godly vision for two weeks, how has your understanding of what it is and isn’t changed? Please be as specific as possible with your group.

Sermon Questions:

1. In the talk, Pastor Anthony made it a point to talk about the difference between “Godly Vision” and “Visions of Delusion” by contrasting Nehemiah’s Vision with the Prosperity Gospel.

  • Can your group identify a good example of Godly Vision and Visions of Delusion?
  • How were you able to discern between the two?

2. Is having Godly vision in a church important? If so, why? If not, why?

  • Do you believe God has a future vision for our church? If so, are you excited about that?
  • What do you feel that vision might be based on the time and experiences you’ve had at RCPO?

3. In the talk, Pastor Anthony mentioned how all great men and women of faith made it a point to practice the spiritual discipline of Knowing God intimately by knowing His Word (The Bible).

  • Why is this discipline such an important one to practice in the Christian faith?
  • If you believe it is an important discipline to practice, why do you believe there is an ever-growing number of Biblically illiterate Christians today? The two ideas seem at odds with each other, but are a present reality in the modern Christian world.

4. Since God has a history of leading His people to do great things for Him in the Scripture (ie. Moses, Nehemiah, Paul, etc.), what role do you believe you could play at RCPO to help bring about a disciple making movement.

  • By this it is simply meant, how can you support the work of the Kingdom in our church to create a culture that reaches an raises up men and women to love Jesus--so they can in turn reach and raise up men and women to love Jesus?
